Canalyst Financial Modeling Corporation, together with its affiliates (“Canalyst”, “we”, “us” or “our”) takes privacy and data security seriously. Canalyst is a leading independent provider of fundamental models to institutional investors through an online platform and database available on the Website and via web-based application programming interface (“Canalyst Services”). We collect, store and use certain information from or about you for the limited purposes described below, and only for so long as we have an ongoing legitimate business need to do so. We obtain that information: (i) directly from you; (ii) automatically as you navigate the Website or access or use the Canalyst Services; or, (iii) where permitted by law, from other sources.

We do not seek or collect any information directly from children. If you are under 13 years of age, you are prohibited from providing us with any information without the involvement of your parent or guardian.

Information You Provide to Us

  •    Access to and Use of Canalyst Services

To enable your access to and use of Canalyst Services, to confirm your identity, to respond to your correspondence and support inquiries, and to monitor and enforce compliance with contract terms, we may collect and store certain information about you including your name, company name, title/position at your company, business or student email address and password, and internet protocol (“IP”) addresses that you access the Website or Canalyst Services from.

We may collect and store the information provided or submitted by you to the Canalyst Services, any data and related output created, derived or generated by you through the use of Canalyst Services, as well as your search history and Service usage, all in accordance with the terms and conditions of your service agreement with Canalyst.

  •  Registration and Account Maintenance

We collect and store the following information for the purpose of administering and maintaining your account – name, company name, title/position at company, LinkedIn website, business or student email address, business or school phone number and address, as well as all correspondence between you and Canalyst.  We also collect credit card numbers and other financial details for billing purposes only.

  • Marketing

If you provide us with information about you, such as your name, company name, title/position at your company, LinkedIn website, business or student email address, your business or school phone number or address, or your marketing preferences, we may correspond with you or send you news, updates, information, promotions, surveys or contests relating to Canalyst Services or other services that may be of interest to you.

Canalyst has taken several steps to ensure we comply with Canadian, US and other applicable privacy laws when using any form of commercial electronic messages for electronic marketing purposes, including:

  • obtaining express consent from you where necessary;
  • presenting you with an opt-in option by asking you for confirmation before you subscribe to our email lists where necessary
  • including a clear and detailed opt-out mechanism by allowing you to unsubscribe from our email lists at any time

In connection with an application or related inquiry for employment or an engagement with Canalyst, you may provide us with certain information about yourself, such as information contained in a resume, cover letter, or similar employment materials. When you contact us with a request to book a demo of Canalyst Services, or with a comment or inquiry, we collect the information you provide such as your name and email address, along with additional information that we may need to help us promptly respond to your inquiry. We retain this information to further assist you and to improve our customer service and service offerings and to establish and manage our relationship with you.

Information We Collect Automatically

Canalyst and certain respected third party service providers, including Google Analytics, may collect, process, store, and analyze information obtained from your browser, including your IP address, device identifiers, browser characteristics, operating system details, language preferences, referring URLs, length of visits, and pages viewed. This information is used for analytics purposes, to help us better understand our Website visitors and users of Canalyst Services and the content of value or interest to them, to improve our offerings and Website, to deliver support services and to monitor unauthorized activity.

Canalyst may also make use of “cookies” or other tools that track, measure and analyze the behaviors and usage patterns of visitors to the Website. Service Providers

Your information may be transferred (or otherwise made available) to other respected third parties, including contractors, billing service providers and credit verification services, who provide services on our behalf. Canalyst’s employees, directors, officers and agents, as well as other service providers are given only the information they need to perform their designated functions and are not authorized to use or disclose your information for their own marketing or other purposes or in a manner inconsistent with this Privacy Notice.

Your information is maintained and processed by us and other third party service providers in Canada, and may also be maintained and processed in the US or other jurisdictions. Our servers may be located outside of the jurisdiction where we collected the data such as the United States.  In the event that your information is transferred to the US or other foreign jurisdictions, it will be subject to the applicable laws of that jurisdiction and may be disclosed to or accessed by the courts, law enforcement and governmental authorities in accordance with those laws.


We may provide your information to the company you are engaged or employed with in order to fulfill and enforce our service agreement between Canalyst and your company or to inform your company of usage, support or training needs.


We display personal testimonials of satisfied customers on the Website in addition to other endorsements. With your prior consent, we may display your testimonial and attribute it to you or your company.

Legal and Compliance

We and our service providers may provide your information in response to a search warrant or other legally valid inquiry or order, or to another enforcement body, regulatory or government agency or organization for the purposes of investigating a breach of an agreement or contravention of law or detecting, suppressing or preventing fraud, or as otherwise required or permitted by applicable Canadian, US or other applicable law or legal process. Your information may be provided to third parties in connection with a merger or acquisition (including transfers made as part of insolvency or bankruptcy proceedings) involving all or part of Canalyst or as part of a corporate reorganization or stock sale or other change in corporate control or fundamental business change, including for the purpose of determining whether to proceed or continue with such transaction or business relationship.  You will be notified via email or notice on the Website in connection with a change of control if your information will be used in a manner inconsistent with this Privacy Notice.

Safeguarding and Retention of Information

We have implemented reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures in an effort to safeguard the information in our custody and control against theft, loss and unauthorized access, use, modification, and disclosure. We restrict access to your information on a need-to-know basis to employees and authorized service providers who require access to fulfill their job or service requirements.

Despite these safeguards, data transmitted over the internet cannot be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As such, we cannot and do not ensure or warrant the security of the information you transmit.
